We are delighted to be launching an exciting new venture at Craigtoun this year! Craigtoun Country Park - Cafe and Kitchen is an employability project aimed towards learners with additional support needs and has been made possible thanks to funding from The Robertson Trust, The Gannochy Trust and Fife Voluntary Action.
The aim of the project is to promote employability in the hospitality industry through courses that will be conducted in our purpose-built, state of the art kitchen and cafe area. Students will be able to gain valuable experience working in a professional kitchen and serving real customers as they work towards a variety of qualifications. These courses will be delivered in a friendly, encouraging environment allowing everyone to flourish at their own pace and we are offering flexible entry dates to make this opportunity accessible to as many potential students as possible.
Courses will cover:
Food Hygiene
Health & Safety in Hospitality
Core Skills - communication, numeracy, working with others, problem solving
CV Writing
The service users will participate in many different activities including the following:
Making sandwiches and salads
Making traybakes
Making soups and hot food
Working on the pot wash and ensuring kitchen hygiene
Working on the counter service and processing payments on the EPOS till system
Making and serving hot drinks
Working front of house serving customers
