Cedar of Lebanon

The fifth tree on our trail, a Cedar of Lebanon, is located on the inside of the peripheral road between the Italian Garden and the Rose Garden.

  • Majestic conifer with grey-green needle-like leaves

  • Barrel shaped cones 8-12 cm long

  • Good specimen evergreen tree

  • Needs space to reach full potential

  • Native to Lebanon and Turkey

Cedarwood was used in the past to construct major buildings in the Middle East, including Solomon’s Temple, as it is durable and immune to insect ravages. It is also used as an insect repellent as in mothballs.
