New Activity For Summer

We are pleased to announce that Touch Tennis has arrived at Craigtoun and will be available whenever the other Seasonal Attractions are running, which is daily throughout the summer holidays!

We have 3 courts set up on the Putting Green (Putting is still available but has been reduced from 18 to 9 holes) and there is a staffed gazebo at the green where you can pick up rackets and balls. Touch Tennis is included in the cost of a day band and can also be played with Individual Ride Tickets - 1 per person. Each session will last for 30 minutes and we have 3 courts available. There are copies of the rules available to view at the station but, if you would like to familiarise yourself with them in advance, they are as follows:

Serving:

  • The server must stand behind the baseline and serve diagonally into the opponent's service box.

  • There is only one serve allowed; no second serves or lets are permitted.

  • A serve that hits the net and goes over is considered in play.

Rallies:

  • Players rally by hitting the ball over the net and into the opponent's half of the court.

  • A rally ends when the ball bounces more than once on a player's side, is hit out of bounds, or hits the net.

Scoring:

  • Scoring is the same as in traditional tennis (0, 15, 30, 40), but there are no advantage points.

  • At deuce, the receiver chooses which side the point will be served from.

  • Sets are typically played to four games, and a player must win by two clear games.

  • If a set reaches 4-4, a tie-break is played to five points, with a sudden death point at 4-4.

  • The first player to win three sets wins the match.
