Supporting Training Project Delivery of a hospitality course for learners with Additional Support Needs (ASN) at Craigtoun Country Park as directed by Development Officer
JOB PURPOSE
Assist the FOC Development Officer in providing a hospitality experience with training and coordinating support for the beneficiaries with Additional Support Needs (ASN) particularly those with a learning disability. Supporting the development of the project providing learning/training/work experience in the fields of cooking, catering and hospitality. Supporting learners towards potential volunteering, work placement and employment within the capacity of everyone.
PRINCIPAL WORKING CONTACTS
FOC Park Manager, FOC Development Officer, FOC Administrator, Carers and Beneficiaries.
MAIN DUTIES
Assist the Development Officer in the delivery and achievement of the outcomes detailed and defined in the Job Purpose, including commitments specifying individual elements which have been made to funders.
Support the Development Officer and staff in the overall management and development and in liaising with those influencing the development and refinement of the content of the work.
Work closely with peer organisations to establish referrals and feedback.
Support the organisational needs for delivery of all elements of the project and deliver these, as required, both directly and through all working contacts.
Support volunteers, inclusive of volunteer carers, as appropriate in contributing to the content and delivery of the work and participate in the activities where appropriate to test and evaluate new materials or other aspects in the project.
Assist in Coordinating training, familiarisation, and development aspects of the project agreed with Friends of Craigtoun’s Management, including arranging participation by specialist experts, partner organisations and not least participants themselves in delivering and developing content which will capture the interests of participants.
Work with and on behalf of the Friends of Craigtoun’s Board, with the appointed evaluation team throughout the project period and with other partners including participants in all relevant aspects of evaluation and subsequent development.

Skills:
Evident management and communication skills will be essential to this post along with the ability to work with Additional Support Needs beneficiaries and the variety of partners sensitive to the issues of the participants of this project, along with the personal skills to work with participants themselves.
Abilities:
The post holder should have the ability to engage and present the content of the project to participants in an enthusiastic manner and develop the experience noted below.
Experience:
The ideal post-holder will be expected to have experience in working with those with Additional Support Needs and to have experience in helping such beneficiaries with their development. Experience in the voluntary sector, developing skills and experience in working with operational management and senior staff of public and voluntary organisations. Previous experience in cooking catering and hospitality work will not be essential but must be part of the commitment to develop knowledge below.
Knowledge:
Beyond desirable general knowledge, the post-holder will be expected to develop knowledge and skills in all the aspects of the project that go with the Job Purpose and Main Duties and will capture the interests of participants. The postholder will be expected to develop a clear understanding of the sensitivities of the project and participants in relation to communicating with, supporting and inspiring all involved.

The post holder will be a good team member and demonstrate a commitment to the organisation in the aims of the project.
The post holder will generally be required to undertake hours of work as the service requires and by mutual agreement with the Park Manager, and the majority of the work will include flexible hours as needs arise.
