The penultimate tree on our trail is the Tibetan Cherry, which you will find on the grassy area north of the Putting Green.
Deciduous tree (loses its leaves in winter)
Discovered in China in 1908
Mainly grown for its unique mahogany peeling bark
Bark is heavily banded with bumpy lines (dull lenticels)
Flowers are tiny, yellow-white and fleeting
Fruits are small, red cherries
Unusual small ornamental tree, attractive in all seasons
