Our annual French Cafe Day with the St Andrews Loches Alliance has been extended this year to incorporate an event to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy.
The event is set to take place on the grassy area behind the Craigtoun Cafe and will run between 11 am and 3 pm.
This year, the French Cafe Tent will become “Le Café de la Libération” with a "Loches en 1944" exhibition, as well as their usual games in French for school children. The Cafe will be serving fresh crêpes to order, croissants, teas and coffees....and Tunnocks teacakes to keep the Brits happy!
In our Memorabilia Tent you will find Cupar Heritage Museum, who are bringing along some WWII memorabilia from their archives as well as costumes from Liz Box's 1940's Vintage Collection.
Outside, we will have a military presence in the form of a small group of 2 Bn REME soldiers, RAFA veterans and the St Andrews Army Cadets.
And last, but by no means least, the St Andrews Community Choir will be on hand to perform a medley of timeless classics of the period, such as "We'll Meet Again" and "The White Cliffs of Dover". The choir will perform at 1200 hrs and 1330 hrs.
All in all, it looks set to be an Allied Event, extraordinaire!
