This music event, taking place at Craigtoun Country Park on Sunday 22nd June, has been organised by Bruach. Bruach is a vibrant, folk-rock band based in Scotland and this event is part of their journey towards representing Scotland at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan!
"Join us for a day of live Celtic music, traditional Ceilidh dancing, and community fun. including a charity bingo game to help raise funds for the band’s travel costs and for the purchase and transport of the Celtic instruments they’ll be showcasing in Japan. The program will feature songs inspired by the deep musical ties between Scotland and Japan, including familiar melodies like Auld Lang Syne and Comin' Through the Rye, which are beloved in Japan as Hotaru no Hikari and Furusato no Sora. Bruach will also perform modern folk-rock originals and even Celtic-style arrangements of Japanese tunes such as Sakura Sakura.
This family-friendly event is a wonderful opportunity to experience cultural exchange through music and dance. Whether you join in the ceilidh, enjoy the performances, touch some instruments, or just come for the atmosphere and a bit of bingo fun, everyone is welcome!
The event is being coordinated by Kayo Ono, fiddler of Bruach and a member of The Sunshine Kitchen Garden Team, which is based right here at Craigtoun Park. Kayo works passionately to connect community, culture, and inclusion—both through music and through her role supporting young people with disabilities. Stay tuned for more details and come celebrate the road to Osaka with us!"
