The 2020 Friends of Craigtoun AGM took place on Tuesday 8th December

Out-Going Chair

At the 2019 AGM, Kyffin Roberts indicated his wish to step down as Chair but agreed to continue in the role for a further year to give us time to plan for the way head.  As it turned out, Kyff’s final year in office turned out to be one of the most difficult as Craigtoun was hit hard by the global Coronavirus pandemic.  He was, however, finally able to hang up his Craigtoun Chairman hat at this year’s AGM and we wish him well as he prepares to enjoy some well-deserved free time to pursue his many other interests.

With Craigtoun Country Park under threat of closure in 2012, Kyff made it his mission to save the park and has been dedicated to that cause ever since.  He called the first meeting of what was to become the Friends of Craigtoun in November of that year and went on to chair the charity that has seen a complete rejuvenation of this well-loved visitor attraction for the next 8 years.  Kyff has always been a hands-on Chairman and, as well as overseeing the general running of the park and promoting Craigtoun in the wider community, he has undertaken many and varied roles….  From helping to restore the train and tractor to driving them for delighted passengers, from flipping burgers in the burger van to overseeing the complete overhaul of the Craigtoun Cafe and from managing the queues of traffic at our busiest events to playing Santa Claus at Christmas, no task has ever been too much!  Kyff’s day-to-day involvement in the park will be sorely missed but he has kindly agreed to stay on as a Member so we will continue to benefit from his experience.

The list of current Board Members is now as follows:

In-Coming Chair

Kyffin Roberts has been succeeded as Chair by former Vice Chair, Doug Stephen, who is also one of the founding members of the Friends of Craigtoun so the charity remains in very good hands.

Vice Chair & New Board Member

The position of Vice Chair has been filled by new Board Member, Callum McLeod, who is also the current Chairman of the Royal Burgh of St Andrews Community Council, to which he was first elected back in 1986.  A former student of St Andrews University and recently retired teacher, Callum has known Craigtoun since his early childhood and was Chairman of the Craigtoun Fair in the 1990s.  As well as sitting on the Board, he is also trained to drive the Rio Grande and Puffin’ Billy, contributing many hands-on volunteer hours.

Operations Director

Jane Kell is one of the founding members of the Friends of Craigtoun and is remaining on the board in the capacity of Operations Director.

Treasurer

Craig Templeton is continuing in his role of Treasurer and has also taken on Fund Raising responsibilities along with Henry Paul.

Fund Raising

Henry Paul previously served on the Friends of Craigtoun Board before standing down to pursue other interests.  He has now returned and will be focusing on the important task of Fund Raising.

Strategy

Local businessman, Joe Headon, is continuing on the Board where his expertise in strategic planning is a valuable asset to the charity.
